Tokyo Flowers
« I am not sure I can explain why I shot those flowers in April 2011. I am usually interested in people and fashion. Why did I choose to photograph the inanimate metaphor of life and death ? I realised flowers have human characteristics. The environnment under which they grow influences how they turn out. For me, the cotton floating around them reflects that daily personal paradox: my ultra-sweet life in Tokyo and the everyday unseen radioactive threat . It seems that with this project I may have moved away from my usual depictions of the human form to a symbolic représentation. » Vanessa Victoria Franklin Tokyo, April 2011 |
